Since 1948, Twig has spent only one season out of professional baseball. He spent 1974 remodeling and managing the establishment that his late father had run all his life in Charlotte, Mich. Twig and his wife Lin got a liquor license, added a ladies' room and decorated the place with an extensive collection of baseball memorabilia. After a year, they sold it and he went back to baseball.
