Book excerpt in Sports Illustrated

Leigh Montville's new book, Ted Williams, is excerpted in the April 12, 2004, issue of SI.

In a section about Ted's managing career with the Senators, Montville writes:

The subtleties of the game of baseball, "inside baseball," never would be part of his approach. There weren't even any signs for him to give coach Wayne Terwilliger at third base. Terwilliger ran that show.
